Trio of Harps

Savourna Stevenson   Monika Stadler

This year the marvellous Savourna is playing her rocking clarsach for the very first time at the Stamford Harp Festival. Great classical harper Monika is coming from Vienna to play her own compositions for you. (Thanks to the Austrian Cultural Forum in London and the Clarsach Society.)

 

South American Harp Fiesta

hey've collaborated on the internet, and now they're going to perform for us); John Dalton (electro-harp); Monika Stadler; and introducing the “Golden Harp of Ur (Iraq 2,750 BC)” played by Tara Jaff (see separate site).

Nicole has come especially from Vienna to show us how she approaches her own style of music making on her harp. Nicole is an enthuisiastic teacher who loves to inspire others with what she has learnt herself. Very much a natural, she proves that anyone can have fun learning, whatever point in their lives they have started from.

Mark is a trained sound editor who runs training events for BBC radio and taught at the Festival last year.

Exhibitors

...are putting on a fine display this year in the Arts Centre Art Gallery.

  • Have a free 25 minute lesson on a top of the range harp with a trained teacher, courtesy of Pilgrim Harps (£4 returnable deposit please).
  • Artist in residence at the Art Gallery of Stamford Arts Centre.
  • Alexander Technique and other massages available all weekend!

 

Accommodation

...is available at Stamford School. Famous for its breakfasts and 5 Star sixth form accommodation block, it will only cost you £25 a night B&B. The school is just 400m away from the Arts Centre.

Stamford is a great undiscovered gem of a Georgian town and your wider family is welcome to join in for a great summer weekend break here with you. Burghley House is on the doorstep.

Getting to Stamford

Stamford by car is 70 miles up the A1 from London.

GNER Inter-City (also WAGN, cheaper) train from Kings Cross to Peterborough and bus or taxi from Peterborough. The odd train onwards to Stamford.

30 miles from East Midlands airport, or one hour (by direct train) from Stansted airport.
