Stamford Harp Festival
Highlights 2008

This year's Stamford Harp Festival was a larger event again!

We found harpists in Sweden willing to come over and play for us. Eric Ask-Upmark and Anne Rynefors brought their harp, rebec, nyckelharpa and Swedish bagpipes, and were accompanied by dancer Anton Schneider. They played twice, in the Stamford Arts Centre Ballroom and at Northborough Church concert, and taught Swedish folk music and dancing.

You can download the music for some Swedish tunes, courtesy of Erik Ask-Upmark.

Classes were held in Jazz harp, Beginner's harp, Jamming with a harp, Swedish harp and dance... and people just came along to have a try on the harp for the first time.

Thank you to all our teachers John Dalton, Keith Beechey, Jon Letcher, Stephanie West and to Adam Cade and family who supported a dance theme to this years festival and made it happen.

Thank you also
