The 12th Harp Festival this year was larger than in recent years.

With the help of Stamford Town Council,
Pilgrim Harps
,
Cllr. Peter Hiller
of North Peterborough Ward,
and the Austrian Cultural Forum, London
we managed to create two days of concerts and workshops
and to broadcast some of it LIVE to the world.

A real first for the harp!

Thanks to LIVESTREAM.com in New York,
with Mark Harmer of Dance of Delight,
our UK Technical Manager.

Friday began with a Church Concert in
MORTON
, Lincolnshire, with solo harpists
Mark Harmer
and David Watkins.

On Saturday at St George's Church, STAMFORD,
the festival organised a workshop on
"Austrian Harp music" and a
"Master Class with David Watkins".

The evening concert was with the
Austrian harp duo
Genoveva Kirchweger
and Angela Reithuber
from Molln in Upper Austria,
joined by David Watkins.

On Sunday the event was attended once again by
Diego Laverde Rochas
from Colombia
who also gave a workshop.

Harpist Tara Jaff
and daf player Adalet Gamiani
from Kurdistan in Iraq

Supporting were our Austrian harp duo and
David Watkins
,
who played a cameo suite for the packed audience in
St Andrew`s Church, NORTHBOROUGH
.

Both evening concerts were filmed by Mark Harmer
and film crew with camera operators
in contact via headsets and
controlled by an internet mixing desk.

Sunday`s concert went out LIVE on the internet and was watched throughout the world, with comments arriving as the concert took place.

Over 1,000 people watched the STAMFORD INTERNATIONAL HARP FESTIVAL at some point over the weekend! ..

Thanks for making this available to everyone! Anon. Maryland USA

Recorded interviews and specially-recorded harp pieces were inserted into the programmes and these gave a real television feel to what is now called
                                      THE HARP CHANNEL
Thank you to those who contributed.

We want to continue to broadcast such harp events which create a real harpists' community feeling……worldwide.
The broadcasts continue to be available even now.

Pilgrim Harps* was our sole, designated, maker-supplier during the weekend and John Hoare was on standby to give hands-on attention for anyone interested in taking up the harp.

We wish to thank all players, attendees, organisers, and venue owners. Especially, in addition, for the extra financial support from those organisations that helped make it possible.

We are now looking for ideas for the 13th Stamford International Harp Festival that fit with our ethos of being: varied in harp style, quirky and original, yet of the highest standard of playing.
