10th Stamford Harp Festival

30th-31st August 2008, Stamford, England

Stamford Harp Festival is a friendly annual event in Cambridgeshire, England, bringing together people with an interest in all aspects of the harp from around the world: from Paraguayan to pedal; from beginners to professionals.

Following the success of Latin and Tyrolean themes in previous years, this year's 10th Anniversary of the Stamford Harp Festival will have the theme of "Performing within a group".

Swedish musicians Dråm (with Erik Ask-Upmark and Anna Rynefors) will bring their harp, rebec, nyckelharpa and Swedish bagpipes, to teach dance and Swedish folk. Come to the Saturday evening "spelmansstämma" (literally "musicians' gathering"), or try the music/dance workshop in the afternoon.

John Dalton, regular at Glastonbury, will teach blues. And as usual there will be other contributors with harp tuition and workshops attracting harpists from all over the country and abroad. There will be a Sunday evening concert at Northborough village church featuring a range of players.

To give you an idea of the breadth of harp music we have a CD of the 2003 event. Proceeds go to support the festival.
